Cast your eyes on a variety of sample American ballots.  See what US voters have before them as they make their decisions.

Punch cards with hanging chads.  Optical scans.  Machine with levers.  There is a variety of voting technology used not only among the 50 states, but even within each state.  (Perhaps this is a reflection of individualism as a value within the United States.  Differences in voting technology is also dependent on the funding available within a voting district to make such purchases).
