USSC Non-Resident Senior Fellow Bruce Wolpe talks to ABC PM about Donald Trump’s argument in the US Supreme Court that former presidents have sweeping immunity from criminal prosecution at a federal level. Wolpe describes the case as “the most important ruling on presidential power since Richard Nixon and the Watergate tapes.”

On the ruling’s implication for Trump’s federal trials, Wolpe says that the pending Supreme Court judgement “takes time, and we’re in an election year... Can you really have a trial of a former president a month before he stands for election in November? It’s a problem.”
